(North Shore, O’ahu) — Freelance Photojournalist working in Asia & the Pacific Region since 1980 covering humanitarian stories around the world. • Documented the aftermath of the Tsunami in Asia in Malaysia and Thailand through 2005. • Covered the devastating impact of 30 years of war on the children and educational system of Cambodia 2005 – 2006 • I lived for a year in Siem Reap Cambodia home of the temples of Angkor Wat where I worked as a volunteer teacher where I was inspired to shoot in HD for a future documentary entitled – The Living Fields. I currently reside half of the year on the North Shore of O’ahu in Hawaii where I work on photography, documentary film/video and music video projects in a self-made post production studio within my home. The other half of the year I am on assignment on the road as a Freelance Photojournalist / Videographer / Editor in some very remote part of the world where it would be nice to have air conditioning but normally requires mesquiteo netting.. If I am very lucky my work takes me on assignments where I am one of the few having the opportunity to capture a story or environment that has never before been captured in Photography. IF you are looking for a Photographer to go where most will not go because of fear or lack of accommodations then I am your man. In 2005 -2006 I traveled throughout Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Burma in a 96 Toyota Landcruiser, sleeping under mesquite nets for the duration, going to the most remote and dangerous place in all of Cambodia, the last Khmer Rouge stronghold in Anlong Veng where everyone is still armed with AK-47′s and have the great story and shots to prove it. Carpe diem.

I am a firm believer in getting the essence of the ‘shot’ or ‘scene’ in the RAW still image or video/film and not having to rely too heavily on post-production and ‘over editing’ to tell the story. I believe that if you are a Professional Photographer you have done your homework up front, understand the dynamics involved in the story you are trying to tell, set your exposure and aperture, use as much of the natural light as possible, and above all else taken the time to compose ‘the shot’ in advance (when ever possible.) If you have to rely too much on using photo editing software to get the type of hue or color that you want in a shot then you are not being true to your craft as a photographer and are missing out on capturing life’s essence.

There is always the time to cut, crop, brighten, soften, lighten, darken, sync and meter in any work but it is usually much easier and always much more rewarding to do it with good Photography from the beginning. Half of telling a great story is producing Photography that tells the story by itself and the other half the emotioal part of the characters in the story. One without the other only produces average work, not Great work. GREAT Photography paired with a great story will produce a riveting and emotional story that will stand the test of time.

I am always open to working on a Great story for less money than I am a ‘beat’ story for great money. If you have an opportunity that you need a Professional Photographer / Videographer or Editor please do not hesitate to shoot me an email or give me a call to discuss it, especially if it is in a remote dangerous part of the world where others would rather not go.

We are finalizing the Post Production Studio and when finished we will give more information and samples of our work in the area of film/video editing and production. We have a fulltime Professional Photoshop Editor on staff for all still photography workflow on a project basis.

The very first picture I took was on a Nikon camera some 30 years ago and in still photography my gear is Nikon Digital D3, D3s, and a D700, Nikon Lenses both telephoto and prime. I am hoping that Nikon is going to release a Nikon D700s soon. I am always available to be a Beta Tester if Nikon has the need for someone to help test it out!

So what is life but our passion,
with our passion we create our work,
from our work we derive our being,
what is being, if only to die …
… but the stories we tell through our Photography
